About this grant

This grant will enable Public/Private Ventures (P/PV), in partnership with the University of Massachusetts – Boston, to conduct a study of four Mott-funded alternative staffing organizations. For disadvantaged job seekers, temporary employment services are increasingly becoming the point of entry to employment. Referred to as alternative staffing organizations, these agencies provide temporary employment opportunities while addressing the clients’ barriers to employment at the same time.Funding will support the Alternative Staffing Field Documentation Study, which will investigate and interpret key components and outcomes of job brokering services provided by alternative staffing organizations. The goal of the study is to explore the financial and programmatic aspects of alternative staffing organizations, the motivation of customer businesses for hiring employees through alternative staffing organizations, and the long-term outcomes for disadvantaged job seekers placed into jobs through alternative staffing organizations.P/PV is a national nonprofit organization that seeks to improve social policies and programs in both the public and private sectors.
