About this grant

This grant will enable the ICA Group to investigate and determine the kinds of assistance and resources that are necessary to support the alternative staffing sector. With nearly 3 million people in the U.S. currently working temporary jobs, community-based workforce development organizations are developing nonprofit alternative staffing programs to provide a better work experience for low-income and disadvantaged job seekers. Funding will support the planning, design and creation of the Alternative Staffing Association to strengthen the efforts of current alternative staffing programs. The planning and design phase will include outreach to stakeholders; analyzing relevant association and network models; providing structural options and arrays of services; and refining the design with input from interested stakeholders. The ICA Group promotes human and economic development through the creation of model employee-owned businesses and community-based projects that save and create jobs for low-income people.
