About this grant

The Impumelelo Innovations Award Trust contributes to efficient service delivery at the local level by rewarding innovation and best practice in the public sector and in partnerships involving the public, private, and civil society sectors. Approximately R1 million is distributed annually to the most exceptional poverty reduction projects. The aim of this program is to encourage the replication of innovative good governance projects identified through the awards program. Over the past two years, the trust conducted capacity-building and skills training workshops for government and civil society leaders and published case studies based on award winning projects. This grant will provide continued support to the trust for its skills training workshops targeting civil society and public sector officials, using previous award winners as trainers. The trust will also undertake research that links policy and practice in the areas of criminal justice, education and training, health care, service delivery, and welfare and publish four case studies of best practice in these sectors.
