About this grant
DOCKDA Rural Development Agency is a community grantmaker that supports community-based organizations working in the Northern Cape Province in South Africa. It provides capacity development training and makes grants to women-led organizations that respond to various social issues in their communities. Previous support has enabled the grantee to make grants, train and mentor leaders of community-based organizations, and conduct workshops on matters affecting the communities. In addition, the grantee partnered with the government to create employment opportunities for women living in rural areas. This grant will support the grantee to continue to make grants and provide training to community-based organizations on various topics including life skills and health. It will also bring together community-based organizations to discuss issues that are most prevalent in their communities such as substance abuse and gender-based violence to find a common solution.
