About this grant
This grant will support the work, activities, and programs of the Harold Wolpe Memorial Trust. The trust focuses on fostering critical and intellectual thinking, debate, and discussion, especially as this relates to the strengthening of civil society as a critical and independent voice in promoting democracy in South Africa. Through its open dialogues, lectures, and seminars held throughout the country, policymakers, academics, civil society activists, and government officials have the intellectual space to conduct critical dialogue, exchange ideas, and inform public debate around social, political, economic, and cultural issues facing South Africa. In addition, the trust uses its Web site and publications to disseminate the ideas and outcomes of these talks and debates to ensure the involvement and participation of a wide and diverse audience.
