About this grant

The program goal is to build the capacity of Ukraine to integrate more closely with European and Euro-Atlantic structures through the application of Polish and European experience. To this end, the Polish Ukrainian Cooperation Foundation "PAUCI" has identified five primary focus areas: (1) advocacy for closer integration with European and Euro-Atlantic structures; (2) promotion of local government reform; (3) adoption of international and European Union business standards; (4) application of internationally recognized ethical standards in public life; and (5) youth empowerment. In 2008-2009, the grantee regularly convened a broad cross section of Ukrainian policymakers and civic activists in a range of training events, major international conferences, and policy-oriented workshops aimed at understanding and influencing European Union policy toward Ukraine. Created in 2005, the foundation is the successor to the Polish-America-Ukraine Cooperation Initiative, which sought to share Polish experience in market and democratic transition.
