About this grant
Many communities face the challenges of addressing diversity, tolerance and equality. A common dilemma among individuals and communities working in this area is where to begin to address these issues. Funding will enable the First Potomac Community Services Corporation to develop and refine assessment materials – Socio-Cultural Identification Process Tools – to help individuals and communities review their "readiness" for antiracism work. A Community Diversity Assessment will include questionnaires about individual experiences and awareness and community perceptions. In addition, interview guides will be created for individuals and groups to collect qualitative information concerning views of the groups or community that is being assessed. First Potomac Community Services Corporation, established in 1999, promotes community building and social change strategies that enhance relationships and cultural competence across racial, cultural and economic barriers.
