About this grant
The creation of new wealth by individuals in middle-income countries presents opportunities and challenges for the nonprofit sector. Since the infrastructure for planned giving in middle-income countries is underdeveloped, a catalyst is needed to encourage giving. Research also suggests that reliable and effective methods of transferring donations and ensuring that they are effectively used are vital.Funding will enable Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) to develop a new program to meet the needs of emerging, wealthy donors in middle-income countries in Central/Eastern Europe, as well as Russia and Brazil. Activities will include researching private and family giving among high net worth individuals; creating specific donor-advised funds and support services; and providing technical assistance and advice to donors, particularly related to investment in civil society initiatives.CAF, established in 1974, is a grantmaking organization that also provides services to help donors and charities both in the United Kingdom and abroad.
