About this grant

Georgia’s rapid population growth, combined with periods of severe drought, has put a strain on Georgia’s water resources. In response, the state recently embarked on a process that will produce Georgia’s first comprehensive, statewide water management plan. Over the past several years, the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper Fund, one of the state’s largest and most effective major watershed groups, has pushed for improved water management policies at the state level. With renewal support, the riverkeeper will engage in the statewide process on a number of levels as well as assist other citizen groups that wish to participate. The riverkeeper will also seek to influence water management policies within the Atlanta metropolitan region and between Georgia and neighboring states.
