About this grant
The Chattahoochee River watershed supports diverse aquatic life, but it has been stressed by multiple water demands, including from the explosive growth of metropolitan Atlanta. Record-setting droughts, coupled with conflicts over access to water from the Chattahoochee, have highlighted the need for more sustainable water management. The Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper works to protect and conserve the watershed by securing strong water policies at the local, state, regional, and federal levels. Over the next two years, the riverkeeper will promote sustainable water policies and programs that will ensure adequate supplies of clean water for both human and aquatic communities.
