About this grant
One of the most essential elements in the development of a quality afterschool program is a skilled and stable workforce. As the afterschool field continues working to improve the effectiveness of afterschool programs, the need for high-quality and comprehensive professional development opportunities for afterschool staff will be vital.Funding will enable the Collaborative Communications Group (CCG) to create a Web-based database of professional development opportunities. The Web site, known as the Afterschool Professional Development National Clearinghouse, will be guided by an advisory group and developed through a research process that will include focus groups, a survey of the afterschool field and a national meeting. Goals of the project include helping afterschool staff and directors understand and access appropriate professional development that will lead to higher-quality afterschool experiences for participants; and designing a more comprehensive professional development system for afterschool staff and directors.CCG is a team of professionals who use innovative communications strategies, products and technologies to bring people together for the improvement of organizations, schools and communities.
