About this grant
This grant will support the development of the Oklahoma Statewide Afterschool Network, whose goal is to ensure that quality afterschool programs are a state priority by engaging public- and private-sector support and resources.Multiyear funding will enable the Oklahoma Statewide Afterschool Network to create a sustainable structure of state, local and regional partnerships that promote the need for high-quality afterschool programs for children and youth; raise the level of public- and private-sector support for school/community partnerships that sustain quality afterschool programs; advocate for state policies that provide the resources necessary to expand and sustain afterschool programs; and identify and share information regarding funding, resources, research, best-practice strategies and program models to ensure afterschool programs are of high-quality.The institute was established in 1983 to provide a strong, effective voice for the needs of Oklahoma’s children and youth. Its mission is to improve the lives of children and youth by raising awareness, taking action and changing policies.
