About this grant
During the next three years, the Genesee Health Plan intends to broaden and expand health care coverage for all uninsured adults in Genesee County with incomes of less than 175 percent of the Federal Poverty Level. County leaders have planned this expansion based on the assumption that broadened health coverage will provide far-reaching benefits to the community. This grant will support the efforts of Health Management Associates (HMA) to create and implement an impact assessment on the effects of expanded health coverage for Genesee County residents through the plan.Multiyear funding will enable HMA to develop technical methodologies and instruments to track changes in county economics, demographics and health programs; refine the elements of impact analysis for each of six categories – individual and community health status and health disparities, access to health care, local workforce and employment, education, stability of the local health system and human service safety net; form technical work groups to assist with data design, collection and reporting; and begin collating, integrating and analyzing the data.HMA, established in 1985, specializes in health care research and consulting.
