About this grant
Most freshwater conservation nonprofits in Ontario are all-volunteer or lightly staffed. For the conservation community to be effective, such organizations must become strong and stable. This grant will enable the Sustainability Network to help build the capacity of such conservation groups through a series of three leadership development retreats to be held during the next two years. Approximately 15 leaders will participate, drawn primarily from organizations engaged in implementing new source water protection rules. The network also will offer three shorter management workshops for larger audiences of freshwater conservation leaders.The Sustainability Network, established in 2003, provides management assistance and training to the nonprofit environmental community in Canada.
