About this grant

Vulnerable youth often do not have access to or are unable to effectively participate in traditional education and employment programs. Since the 1990s, ROCA has worked to create pre-employment projects and transitional work opportunities for high-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 24 in several Boston communities. Such opportunities provide a bridge for young people who are disconnected from systems and services.Funding will enable ROCA to launch a workforce development project focused on the food service and hospitality industry. Goals include promoting pre-employment and transitional employment training; providing job placement and retention support to young people in the food service and hospitality industry; and improving youth and workforce development programs in the areas of pre-employment, transitional employment and job placement. The project will help 20 to 30 youth acquire the skills needed for work and potential career advancement within the hospitality industry.ROCA was established more than a decade ago to create opportunities for improving the quality of life for youth and families.
