About this grant
Community development and organizing is dependent on skilled leadership. Currently, there is a shortage of people who are prepared for key leadership positions in the field. There is a critical need to create a pipeline that can generate skilled community leadership.Multiyear funding will enable Community Catalyst to recruit people with extensive experience in community organizing and development to identify ways to build a stronger base for leadership in the field of community and social change. Project goals include expanding university-based education on community change and organizing; training a new generation of organizational development specialists and equipping them with knowledge and capacity to work with grassroots groups; and developing models for reconnecting veterans of community organizing with their successors to provide mentoring, training and support.Community Catalyst is a national nonprofit advocacy organization that builds community participation by providing technical assistance and training to state and local organizations.
