About this grant

The Rhodes University Legal Aid Clinic provides free, legal advice and related services to poor people in the Eastern Cape province. It handles criminal and civil cases, drafting of contracts and wills, labor disputes, housing and land cases, family law, and consumer rights cases. Mott’s support will provide training and mentoring to paralegals and advice offices that provide paralegal advice to poor communities and assist these communities to access their rights. It will also provide institutional support to advice offices to enable them to do their work in a more effective manner.
