About this grant
The program goal is to strengthen community foundations globally. To this end, the Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support and the European Foundation Centre created a grantmaking fund focusing on community foundations and their support organizations in developing and transitioning countries around the world. The fund’s objectives include building institutional capacity among community foundations and similar philanthropic organizations; promoting collaboration and networks which advance the field of community foundations; and building connections between the community foundation field and policymakers, governments, and international development agencies. To date, the fund has awarded $1.8 million in grants to 100 community foundations and philanthropy support organizations in 40 countries. The European Foundation Centre is an independent membership association of foundations and corporate funders dedicated to promoting organized philanthropy in Europe and internationally.
