About this grant

The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices, the National Network of Sector Partners, and the Corporation for a Skilled Workforce have come together to coordinate an initiative that in the past two years has significantly expanded the environment for states to adopt sectoral strategies and state workforce development policies that support sectoral employment. Sectoral strategies attempt to prepare workers by developing a deep understanding of important industries in their region, and partnering with area employers to create training and other services that both support the industries’ competitiveness and connect workers to good-paying jobs. Sector projects focus on jobs in industries including healthcare, information technology, construction, and manufacturing. This renewal grant will continue to expand and institutionalize sectoral strategies in states where they have been established, increase the number of states that establish sectoral strategies, and expand knowledge of sectoral strategies in states that have limited knowledge of them in order to increase the number of states where policy formation is under way.
