About this grant
The Interfaith Education Fund provides training and technical assistance to community organizations affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in the western and southwestern states. For more than two decades, IAF has been active in Louisiana and Texas. When New Orleans was hit by Hurricane Katrina, the staff and many leaders of the IAF affiliate were evacuated to Baton Rouge.Funding will enable the organization to work with local IAF affiliates to form new groups to help people address their immediate needs and to develop a strategy for the future. The fund is providing an additional organizer for northern and central Louisiana to build networks of evacuees and rebuild and expand the organizing base in southern Louisiana. The Interfaith Education Fund was created in 1989 to assist organizations affiliated with IAF in gaining power over the conditions affecting the lives of their families.
