About this grant

Since 1986, Chrysalis has provided transitional and temporary employment opportunities for the chronic homeless population of Los Angeles’ skid row district. With a reputation as an exemplary program serving one of the hardest-to-serve populations, Chrysalis is a national model of market-based workforce development. Despite their successes, Chrysalis is struggling to keep up with the demand created by approximately 91,000 homeless people in Los Angeles County.Multiyear funding will enable Chrysalis to conduct research, planning and development of new market-based transitional employment strategies. In addition, the University of California-Los Angeles will document and evaluate the process to glean information about establishing market-based programs for the hard-to-employ.
