About this grant
The earthquake in northern Pakistan in October 2005 was devastating, with an estimated 80,000 fatalities.This grant will provide support to the Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AFK USA) for the Pakistan Earthquake Reconstruction Operation. The focus of the project will be to rebuild people’s lives after the emergency relief phase has ended. Emphasis will be on restoring livelihoods and basic social service infrastructure, as well as community-based activities that will enhance disaster preparedness and mitigation in the future. AKF USA, established in 1981 and based in Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit, non-denominational development agency dedicated to improving the quality of life in some of the poorest regions of Asia and Africa.
