About this grant

The Siberian Civic Initiatives Support Center works in Siberia to strengthen partnerships between government and citizens; increase public involvement in community development efforts; and expand local- and regional-level expertise in evaluation. This grant will enable the center to introduce an innovative Community Governance Model and Community Indicators System to five pilot communities in Siberia. It will provide a series of five training seminars, support to local work groups, on-site and distance consulting, a Russian-language publication, and a summary forum for interested parties beyond program participants. The program includes assistance with drafting and reviewing assessments, strategies, indicator systems, action plans and public awareness programs for participating communities. The center was founded in 1995 to support democratic reform in Siberia. Its mission is to foster citizen participation and a political, social and economic environment that recognizes the value of civic initiatives and promotes opportunities for people to become active.
