About this grant
Despite progress over the past 30 years, water pollution continues to threaten environmental and human health in the Canadian portion of the Great Lakes basin. Recently, several water quality policy reform opportunities have come together that could improve Great Lakes protections. This grant will enable Environmental Defence to engage the environmental community in the adoption and implementation of the Ontario Clean Water Act and the review of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. It also will lead an effort to develop a comprehensive plan for Canadian action aimed at protecting and restoring the Great Lakes.Environmental Defence, a national environmental group based in Toronto, works across Canada to protect the environment and human health.
