About this grant

This grant will enable the Community Media Workshop (CMW) to provide communications capacity-building support to Mott grantees and other nonprofits across the state of Michigan, including specific outreach to grantees in the Building Organized Communities and Growth Management and Urban Revitalization portfolios. The project will have three phases that will take place over a period of nine months and will include a series of workshops, a conference, and one-on-one follow-up consulting.CMW was established in 1989 to encourage and foster a closer understanding of how to use mass communication to the benefit of charitable and communication organizations. Its staff includes journalists and media-relations experts that provide trainings and other tools to community-based groups to connect with the media to promote news and important stories to the public.
