About this grant
The project goals are to increase the participation of young refugees and displaced people in all aspects of decisionmaking and social life in Serbia and to strengthen the grantee’s capacity for effective research, analysis, and advocacy. To this end, the grantee will promote the rights of forced migrants and engage young people in communities to work actively with young forced migrants. During 2012-2014, the grantee will focus on contributing to creating an open, tolerant, and diverse society by increasing participation and activism among young people in 10 to 13 towns across Serbia. During the previous grant period, the grantee carried out a range of direct project activities in local communities and conducted national-level advocacy. Specifically, the grantee trained more than 300 teachers and youth workers to use literature and culture to promote cultural awareness and tolerance. More than 500 young people were directly involved in project activities across 17 communities. Group 484 is based in Belgrade and cooperates with various European networks of organizations assisting refugees.
