About this grant
The program goal is to combat corruption and organized crime and to promote public participation in decisionmaking processes. To this end, the Network for the Affirmation of NGO Sector – MANS will carry out investigations into cases of corruption and organized crime, provide free legal assistance to citizens reporting corruption, increase citizens’ use of Montenegro’s freedom of information procedures, and monitor legal frameworks designed to combat corruption and organized crime. During 2014-2016, the grantee provided legal aid to more than 1,000 citizens who were reporting corruption, built the capacity of five local nonprofits to effectively monitor corruption in their communities, received international recognition for investigative reports on organized crime in Montenegro, and improved access to information by supporting citizens to submit more than 22,000 requests and following up on denials in 9,000 instances. The grantee is based in Podgorica.
