About this grant
As Serbia and Montenegro begin the process of European Union (EU) accession, it is critical that issues of truth telling and justice for victims of the recent wars in the region do not slip from the EU’s agenda or the concern of the society at large. This grant will enable the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia to conduct a range of educational and outreach activities targeting young people across the country. Activities will include seminars, field visits to Srebrenica (the site of the worst atrocities during the Bosnian War), panel discussions and youth leadership development. The committee was established in 1994 to monitor and analyze social and political trends that affect human and minority rights as well as the process of democratic transition in Serbia and Montenegro.
