About this grant
The project goal is to build a constituency for justice in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the work of the War Crimes Chamber of the Bosnian State Court, in particular. To this end, the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Republika Srpska works with local organizations and other stakeholders to raise public awareness about the work of the War Crimes Chamber of the Bosnian State Court and provide assistance to victims and potential witnesses. During 2008-2009, the grantee will continue to work toward this goal by producing television programs, publishing printed material, and providing direct technical assistance and support in the city of Bijeljina in the northeast of Bosnia. During 2006-2007, the grantee established a telephone hotline for citizens to obtain and provide information about war crimes trials, organized public debates, produced several television programs about war crimes trials before the War Crimes Chamber of the Bosnian State Court, and organized visits to the chamber for young people and other citizens from the Bijeljina region. The grantee is located in the city of Bijeljina and has been active since 1996.
