About this grant
The program goal is to raise awareness about the past and develop the values of human rights and rule of law in Serbia and other countries in the Western Balkans. To this end, Vojvodanka — Regional Women’s Initiative, a nongovernmental organization in Serbia, will organize annual human rights festivals in 2008 and 2009 that will include documentary films, photography, poster art, creative workshops, and public discussions. With a particular focus on young people, the festivals provide an interactive space for individuals to learn about and engage in a range of issues linked to the region’s past and other key issues. In 2006 and 2007, the annual festivals traveled to over 11 cities and towns and attracted more than 20,000 people. The grantee is based in Novi Sad, Serbia, and works with other local organizations across the region to produce each annual festival.
