About this grant

This grant will provide funding to Whaley Children’s Center for building the capacity of its staff in crisis prevention and intervention. The mission of Whaley Children’s Center is to serve troubled youth and teach them how to succeed as individuals by providing a continuum of services to meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of the children and their families. These children are considered to be at the highest risk for behavioral and psychological problems resulting from severely abusive and neglectful family environments. In order to ensure the safety of the children and workers during traumatic incidents, this project will allow staff members to participate in professional development, training, and skill-building activities related to conflict resolution, crisis prevention, de-escalation techniques, and relationship building.
