About this grant
This grant will enable the Fundação Oriente to organize the 2006 meeting series convened at the Convento da Arrábida located just outside Lisbon, Portugal. The meetings are attended by academics, students and professionals in various fields, as well as the general public. In 2006, the major areas of discussion will center on transatlantic relations, the rising global roles of China and India, changes in the European welfare state, immigration, and other topics.The Fundação Oriente was established in 1988 with the goal of supporting cultural, educational, artistic and philanthropic activities, particularly in Portugal and Macao.
