About this grant
This grant will enable the National Afterschool Association to improve the quality of afterschool programs, specifically the quality of professional development provided to afterschool staff working directly with children and youth. In developing this system, the association will work in collaboration with a committee of national experts in staff development, training and afterschool programming. The project aims to: develop better quality assurance for training in the afterschool field; set a standard for the type of facilitator/trainer that is most effective for developing quality afterschool practitioners; and offer a seal of approval for trainers/facilitators of afterschool frontline staff. The National AfterSchool Association is well positioned to be the conferring entity for the approval system, as it is a membership group of afterschool staff and not a training entity.
