About this grant
The program goal is to engage with active citizens and nonprofit groups to strengthen the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms in Ukraine. Established in 2004, the grantee works to promote practical observance of the range of international human rights’ instruments to which Ukraine is a party. The grantee supports a network of more than 30 members around the country to: 1) promote and protect human rights through a range of information and educational activities; 2) increase strategic litigation and direct representation of victims through regional legal advice centers; and 3) monitor, research, and analyze the state of human rights in Ukraine. The grantee also supports a Human Rights House training and information center. A grant increase will allow the grantee to respond to the emerging and urgent need to increase training in local government/civic group interactions with a rights perspective and upgrade the Human Rights House facilities to accommodate an overall increased training demand.
