About this grant

The Cradock Masizame Community Development Centre was established to serve as a vehicle for development in the area of Cradock and surrounding towns in the Eastern Cape. Cradock is a small, rural town in the Eastern Cape that was in the forefront of the struggle against apartheid. Its fierce resistance led to it being targeted by the apartheid regime, with many atrocities committed against the black community. Through previous support, the centre implemented a community healing and development process that sought to assist the community to overcome its violent past, facilitate intracommunity dialogue, and promote reconciliation. The programs involved a wide range of people within the community including youth, teachers, women’s groups, and church ministers. This grant will assist the Cradock Masizame Community Development Centre to continue with this work.
