About this grant
The Institute for Healing of Memories was created to contribute to the healing of individuals and communities affected by the political conflict and violence during apartheid and to share South Africa’s experience of dealing with its past with the broader international community. The core program is its Healing of Memories workshops, which provide a safe space for dialogue and openness to deal with issues such as reconciliation, forgiveness, dealing with the past, restorative justice, peace building, and conflict resolution. Past achievements include creating a knowledge hub on healing, trauma, reconciliation, and transformative justice; facilitating community conversations to improve tolerance among diverse groups; and conducting healing workshops for various groups including interfaith communities, refugees, prisoners, and people infected by HIV/AIDS. This grant renewal will support the Institute for Healing of Memories to continue supporting various individuals and communities in their healing journeys.
