About this grant
Ashoka Innovators for the Public was established in 1990 to promote social entrepreneurship, community development and the sustainability of the civil society sector in South Africa and the southern Africa region. This grant will enable Ashoka Innovators for the Public to host an annual competition to recognize civil society organizations that have been effective in building their sustainability. Strategies that will be considered include social enterprises, community wealth, investment opportunities, and innovative ways of recovering and reducing costs. The grant also will support training and development, dissemination of knowledge and best practices, and capacity building for organizations.
