About this grant
The program goal is to support the development of local philanthropy and community foundations in Bulgaria. During the grant period, the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation will provide institutional development grants to eight existing community foundations in Bulgaria to strengthen their institutional capacities and improve their fundraising and fund development strategies. In addition, the grantee will support initiative groups with a strong potential to develop community foundations in at least two new locations. Also, the grantee will strengthen youth involvement in philanthropy and community development by developing a network of at least 15 YouthBanks in Bulgaria. Key project results in the past two years include strengthening the leadership role of community foundations in local development and promoting new philanthropic initiatives on the local level, including collaborative giving circles and YouthBanks. The grantee is based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
