About this grant
This grant will enable the Southern Education Foundation to continue to promote and build policy strategies and actions that address the needs of high school dropouts in the South. In the most recent phase of this project, the grantee monitored the implementation of new and innovative dropout policies in Alabama and Louisiana, encouraged education officials in Mississippi to create an office of dropout prevention, and convened regional stakeholders to discuss additional efforts that address the needs of dropouts. During the next phase, the grantee will continue to make the dropout issue a top policymaking priority in the South, as funding opportunities surface via new federal mandates/efforts to improve schools and graduation rates.
