About this grant
This grant to Flint Area Specialized Employment Services, Inc., will support the Flint STRIVE Academy Summer Youth Project, a ten-week summer youth employment project for 25 at-risk youth ages 14 through 19. Youth will be employed by Flint STRIVE’s Achieve Employment Services. In addition, during the ten-week period, youth will participate in Freedom School Concepts, a cultural program designed to build intergenerational respect, self-esteem, anger management, and other character-building activities. This initiative advances the Mott Foundation’s interest in increasing summer activity options for disadvantaged youth during these trying times of job loss and unemployment.
