About this grant
This grant will support the expansion of one of the theatre’s recent plays, “Graffiti Chronicles,” for traveling performances to 18 sites in Flint and Genesee County. This grant will support the production costs of these performances, including stipends for artists and technical support, as well as the cost of set design and transportation. The Floyd McCree Theatre is a Flint-based performing arts organization. Its mission is to provide a vehicle for local African-American young adults to explore and refine their talents in the areas of acting, dance, music, and creative writing through the creation of stage productions that reflect their cultural and historical experiences. The theatre currently presents four plays each season and has forged collaborative relationships with a number of local nonprofits with the objective of developing the theatre’s audience.
