About this grant
The Heart of the Lakes Center for Land Conservation Policy was founded in 2004 to support the efforts of land conservation organizations across Michigan. With prior Mott support, the grantee has promoted tax policies that reward private land conservation, educated decisionmakers and the public about the benefits of public lands, helped land trusts across the state become more effective and sustainable organizations, and improved its own organizational capacity. With renewed support, the grantee will continue to undertake similar efforts while working to strengthen relationships among disparate groups, engage new constituencies, and make a stronger economic case for conservation.
