About this grant
The Minnesota Environmental Partnership, an independent statewide network of more than 80 groups, has a long-term commitment to Lake Superior through its Northeast Minnesota Program. With prior Mott support, the grantee advanced Great Lakes protections by informing state-level and regional policy discussions. This grant increase will allow the partnership to address the emerging threat from the mining of sulfide-based ores in the Lake Superior watershed. To ensure the greatest water quality protections, the partnership will coordinate statewide efforts, provide information and outreach to stakeholders, conduct legal and technical reviews of mining proposals, and employ applicable Clean Water Act tools.
