About this grant

Oil Change International is a research and policy reform organization working to encourage progress in reducing emissions from greenhouse gases and address energy access for the poor in developing countries. Its International Program focuses on reforming the energy-related lending of public multilateral financial institutions, export credit agencies, key private financial institutions, and reducing government subsidies for fossil fuels. Over the last grant period, the grantee helped increase transparency of financial flows to the energy sector and monitor commitments by international financial institutions and governments to shift their energy financing practices. With this renewal, it will continue its work analyzing and researching the scope, as well as the environmental and social implications, of current global fossil fuel subsidies. In addition, the grantee will refine and improve its database that tracks international financial institution financing of fossil fuels and work with Brazilian organizations to include Brazilian government financing of fossil fuel projects.
