West Virginia Statewide Afterschool Network

About this grant

This grant to the West Virginia University Research Corporation will support the development of the West Virginia Statewide Afterschool Network to continue to build an afterschool and summer learning system that improves outcomes for children and youth through school-based or school-linked afterschool programs. Over the next three years, the network will support the development of policy, partnerships, and funding to benefit youth in afterschool programs. The network’s specific initiatives will include: 1) conducting an expanded environmental scan to document the current status of afterschool programs in West Virginia; 2) developing a comprehensive communications and outreach plan on afterschool to educate policymakers; and 3) developing a self-assessment tool to evaluate progress toward achieving the West Virginia afterschool quality program standards.
