About this grant

This grant supports a project of ActionAid International USA to organize an exchange among community organizers and leaders from disaster-affected communities in Asia and the Americas. The purpose of this exchange is to share experiences about ways that poor and vulnerable people have been engaged in a reconstruction process, strengthen the capacity of grassroots organizations to influence rebuilding policies in post-disaster situations, and document and disseminate best practices. Participants for this project will be selected on the basis of their role and experience in organizing in a post-disaster situation as well as on their connections to networks of organizations that will serve to disseminate the lessons learned. This grant increase will support the organization in covering additional costs incurred in organizing the exchange.
