About this grant

This grant will support a project that will enable community organizers and leaders from disaster-affected communities in Asia and the Americas to share experiences about ways that poor and vulnerable people have been engaged in a reconstruction process; strengthen the capacity of grassroots organizations to influence rebuilding policies in post-disaster situations; and document and disseminate best practices. Participants will be selected on the basis of their role and experience in organizing in a post-disaster situation as well as their connections to networks of organizations that will serve to disseminate the lessons learned.ActionAid works in more than 40 countries to fight poverty and highlight crucial issues related to basic human rights including food, shelter, work, education and healthcare. ActionAid International USA encourages practical collaboration and mutual learning between grassroots groups in the U.S. and their counterparts in other ActionAid countries.
