About this grant
The project goal is to strengthen the development of community schools in Central/Eastern Europe and Russia and beyond. The International Association "Interactive Open Schools" will lead a multinational team to further disseminate self-assessment standards and practices of community schools aimed at improving school performance and student attainment. Partners in ten countries will share best practices in community school development with a growing range of stakeholders. They will conduct research into the educational attainment levels within community schools to demonstrate the effectiveness of the model. They will also provide new assessment materials for use nationally and internationally. In 2011-2013, the partners created a Russian and English language compendium of case studies detailing successful use of the self-assessment tool in changing school management and practice. The program was also expanded to formally include Poland and Mongolia. Established in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2004, the grantee works to promote school development, democratization of school administration, and cooperation between schools and their local communities.
