About this grant
The project goal is to strengthen the development of community schools in Central/Eastern Europe and Russia and beyond. The International Association "Interactive Open Schools" will lead a multinational team to further disseminate community schools’ self-assessment standards and practices aimed at improving school performance and student achievement. Partners in 11 countries will share best practices in community school development with a growing range of stakeholders. They will conduct research into the educational achievement levels within community schools to demonstrate the effectiveness of the model. They will also provide new assessment materials for use nationally and internationally. In 2013-2015, the partners developed additional resources to strengthen and promote community schools, including a manual on parental engagement in community schools. To promote the core principles of a community school, the partners created a promotional video, leaflet, and poster in Russian and English. The partners conducted a series of international- and national-level Webinars and redesigned and updated the project’s Website. Established in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2004, the grantee works to promote school development, democratization of school administration, and cooperation between schools and their local communities.
