About this grant
The Human Rights Media Trust produces films and documentaries that educate people about human rights. This grant will support the trust to develop a six-part documentary drama series designed to de-mystify the workings of local government and to make it more accountable and effective. The series was conceived by a writer and academic who has extensive experience in local government and popular culture and will raise awareness on current challenges facing local government. It will cover a range of topical issues like the nature of service delivery and the challenges thereof, and the mechanisms used by local governments to enhance community participation in municipal decisionmaking. It will also explore how the media can enhance municipal accountability.
